We start with bread baked fresh right in our store. How fresh, you ask? Our bread is never more than four hours old. That's right, four hours max. We use vegetables delivered fresh and whole to our stores, prepared on-site. Our meats are premium cuts sliced daily in-store and our Cheddar and Provolone cheese are natural and aged, nothing artificial here. While our quality is top shelf and our prices are as modest as the man who started it all, Mike Liautaud.

Our founder, "Big Mike" Liautaud, had a big idea but not a lot of dough. So in 1989, he opened a single sandwich shop in the Big Ten town of Madison, Wisconsin.
Who knew one small store named Big Mike's (now Milio's Sandwiches) would lead to dozens more? Well, actually Big Mike did. He had a hunch anyway. After all, he was making the best-tasting sandwiches in the Midwest. College students loved ‘em. So did moms, kids and the occasional buttoned-up businessman. Even rock stars snapped up Big Mike's delicious subs. In fact, our man Big Mike became somewhat of a "sandwich maker to the stars," taking his subs backstage to satisfy the appetites of innumerable rock bands and their entourages, as well as, NFL teams.
Somewhere along the line, we got the idea to rename ourselves Milio's. Sort of a combination of Mike and Liautaud, in honor of the sage of sandwich making.
